Techit’s taskbar – some cool Windows programs.

For those of you that don’t know, a task bar is the bar at the bottom of any Windows desktop. It displays all of your current tasks, and most used tasks or programs. In Windows 7, it is similar to an OSX Dock.

Google Chrome is a web browser which is fast, reliable, and easy to use. it is recommended for any type of computer user, Mac or PC.

Mozilla Firefox is also another web browser, it has more add-ons and features that you can install but Firefox is a bit of a memory hog and can be slow on some computers.

Windows Live Movie Maker comes in the Windows Live package. It is great if you are a Windows user and want to do basic home or screen cast video editing. Most features are basic, there are better movie editors out there but for a program from Microsoft, this one is good enough for basic editing needs.

Skype, just another instant messenger program, very easy to use, good for video and audio calls to family, friends, colleges, etc.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a basic e-mail client. Much better than Microsoft outlook, in my opinion, it is easy to set up your email account and some great features. Add-ons also available at mozilla.org.

Tweetdeck, another Twitter client, Mac or PC, lets you connect multiple accounts, add Twitter lists and #tweets.

CamStudio, basic screen recording program for Windows.

Pinnacle Studio 12: another basic movie editor, a little more advanced than Windows Live Movie Maker. ]

Internet Explorer, a web browser. It sucks, I suggest you don’t use it. Terrible security features, and it’s slow!

Mozilla Composer: A website editing program, edit your HTML websites using this WYSIWYG Web Editor.

My (almost) new MacBook

On Tuesday I went down to a nearby town to a store that sold off-lease laptops, I looked at the MacBook and then decided to buy it. I’ve been looking for a cheap MacBook latelly and decided off-lease was the way to go, everything works, the only thing wrong is a few minor scratches on the case (I’ll buy a Speck case to solve that). And there is also one small scratch on the screen about this big - So overall, this MacBook was a great deal.

Here are the specs:

2.4Ghz, 2G RAM, 160gb hard drive, running Snow Leopard and Windows XP, can you run Ubuntu on a Mac? I guess I would have to buy VMware, but that’s ok.

Hey everyone, I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been posting on my blog. I just recently bought my MacBook, and also had some personal things to deal with. As of today, I am going to start posting a blog post at least once every other day. There is also something in this for you, if anyone has content that is either on their site, somewhere else, or nowhere, you can send it to me and I’ll post it on my blog. I’ll even put a link to your blog or website. It’s like free advertising for you. In return, I’ll I expect is that you advertise somewhere for me, so, just say that you have content on my blog and then have a link.

1. Google Chrome

This is a must have program. It is so much faster and safer than IE and a lot easier to use.

2.Skype

This program is if you have freinds or faimly that live far away and you want to keep in touch with them and actually see them with a webcam or just chat like on the phone.

3.Thunderbird

This is my favorite email client out there for windows. Very easy to use for the simple tasks of checking your email.

4.Windows Live Movie Maker

This is a very basic and easy to use video editor to put all your faimly videos and pictures into a nice slide show or movie with ease.

5.AIM

If you love facebook and don want to have to go to facebook.com every time and just want a desktop program then this is for you.

Apple is an American company that designs and manufactures computers, software, and other electronics. The company’s best know products are the iPod, iPhone, and Macintosh computer. Apple’s popular software includes creativity and productivity applications.

Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne are the main founders of Apple since 1976.

Steven Paul “Steve” Jobs: was born February 24^th. 1955. He is the chairman and CEO of Apple Inc. He is also part of the Board of Directors for the Walt Disney Company.

Stephen Gary “Woz” Wozniak: was born August 11, 1950 in San Jose, California. Steve is an American Engineer who founded Apple Computer Inc with Steve Jobs and R. Wayne.

Ronald Gerald Wayne: was born May 17, 1934, Cleveland, Ohio. Wayne is often referred to as the 3^rd founder for Apple Inc. (In addition to Jobs and Woz) Ronald Wayne drew the first Apple Logo and wrote the Apple| manual.

Until January 2007, Apple Inc. Was named Apple Computer Inc. But because of the other electronics being manufactured they dropped the ‘Computer’.

Current Products

Within the last few years, Apple has created many new products such as the iPad(recent post), the new iPod Nano, iMac 27, and the new MacBook Pro i5/i7.

So, I’ve been thinking about doing a blog post about twice a month that is focused on just Apple Inc. So I will do quick updates, give you some funny history, site links, info, and more. iPad Internationally

iPads

U.S. buyers have been getting the iPads so quickly that Apple is delaying their new product release in many countries. Anyone not in the U.S. is going to have to wait about a month before they have the opportunity of buying the new mobile gadget for surfing the web, reading iBooks, checking e-mails, playing games, & more. The next model, which is capable of cellular broadband 3G networking, is coming out one month after each country gets the 1st model, WiFi only. So far, Apple has sold over 500,000 iPads, U.S. only.

I have not yet boughten an iPad because, well, I’m in Canada. Yes, I could easily drive 3 hours to the U.S. and buy one but I think I want to wait for the 2nd generation iPad. By then, Apple will have fixed most of the bugs and maybe even added some new features. Until then, You probably won’t hear about the iPad from me again (unless there is big news, of course). IRC Bots

You may have seen bots in your channel as they are becoming quite popular these days. Bots are helpful and fun in many ways. These bot are programmed to do many tasks like play games, moderate channels, and some have fun action scripts.

I have been working on a new bot (techie-bot) that actually does all three listed above. This bot is a silent command bot and will not respond unless a specific command is given. Some commands have one result while others are random so you may not know what the out come may be, making the bot a bit more fun.

It’s also a help bot and will give you information to where you can find help when you need it. Other helpful tools include a Calculator, Universal Currency Converter, and pull up your local weather information no matter where in the world you are from.

Another popular feature is moderating, my bot will warn when a rule is broken then will Time Out or Kick the offender, only Ops can ban a viewer from a channel. Some things the bot may Time Out or Kick include flooding chat, posting certain links, language, etc. It also greets users upon entering the chat and automatically voice viewers. Keep in mind that these features are customizable per broadcasters’ needs.

Facebook warning.

About once a month I get a warning from Facebook in my inbox. Facebook Support <confirmation@facebook.com> It says:

Dear user of facebook,

Because of the measures taken to provide safety to our clients, your password has been changed.

You can find your new password in attached document.

Thanks,

Your Facebook.

It also has an attached document:

Facebook_document_66757.zip

Let me point out what’s wrong with this:

Facebook doesn’t e-mail you for this reason unless you request it.
It says, “Dear user of facebook” Facebook should be capitalized and Facebook would actually say “Dear Facebook user.”
They don’t do this: provide safety to our clients, your password has been changed.
clients? A line above that they called us ‘users’ ?
new password in attached document. NO WAY, If you requested your password to be ‘reset’ (not changed but reset) They would make a new password for you and send it in the message, not an attachment.
IT’S a .zip file. It could be anything (most likely an auto-opening .exe or .dmg)
Thanks, Your Facebook. ; They actually capitalized Facebook this time but should it be like this:
This will get sent to people that don’t even have Facebook

So there is 8 reasons why this e-mail is FAKE. NEVER trust these types of e-mails for ANY website and especially do not open an attachment if you don’t know what it REALLY is! Today, I blocked the sender which looks like confirmation@facebook.com. (I doubt it is from facebook.com.) Nice try Scammer!
